Guided Tour

In transition. The Bührle Collection

The ideal introduction to the exhibition
Guided Tour

You can expect to see art historically significant works by Impressionist artists such as Claude Monet and Auguste Renoir, as well as works from modern art by artists like Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall. The exhibition also includes works from 17th-century Dutch painting.

More than 200 paintings from the collection of the Foundation E.G. Bührle Collection are displayed in a so-called Petersburg hanging. This style of presentation, in which artworks are densely arranged in multiple rows, was common in salons and art museums until the late 19th century and was also used by Emil Bührle for his private collection.

For the first time, all works in the collection can be viewed together in a comprehensive open-storage display, offering a unique overview.

The public guided tour is held in English.
