Audioguides

Our collection audio guide in the languages DE / EN / FR is also available for children from 5 to 12 years at the info desk in the Moser Building and the Chipperfield Building for CHF 4.– and free when purchasing the tickets online.

Cloakrooms

Please use the lockers: Moser building in the basement, Chipperfield building in the entrance hall and in the basement. Our ticket office and supervisory staff will be happy to provide you with information.

Prams/strollers

Prams/strollers are normally admitted in the collection and exhibition galleries. Please note that food and beverages are not permitted in these areas. For safety reasons, we reserve the right to restrict access to the collection and exhibition galleries, for example when the Kunsthaus is very busy. Storage areas are available. Museum buggies can be borrowed free of charge. Please contact a member of staff for assistance.

Food and beverages

Food and beverages may not be taken into the collection and exhibition galleries but are permitted in the café in the entrance area (also applies to baby food and milk bottles).

Free WiFi

Free WiFi access is available to all our visitors. Simply connect your mobile device to ‘KHZ-Kunsthaus Welcome’. No password is required.

Photography

Photography for private purposes is permitted in the permanent collection and temporary exhibition galleries. The use of flash, tripods and selfie sticks is prohibited. Areas where photography is not permitted are designated accordingly.

House rules

The most important facts in a nutshell

  • Bags, backpacks, umbrellas and coats should be deposited in one of the lockers. Small handbags (maximum size DIN A4 / l 30 x h 21 x w 20 cm) may be carried on the arm.
  • If you wish to take a break during your visit, folding stools are available.
  • Animals are not allowed inside the museum, except for assistance dogs.
  • Food and drink may only be carried and consumed in the entrance halls and in the gardens.
  • Filming and photography for private purposes without the use of flash, tripods or selfie sticks is permitted (except where indicated next to the work concerned).
  • Please set your mobile phone to silent to avoid disturbing other visitors.
  • Smoking is permitted in the gardens.
  • Independent groups and school classes must announce their visit in advance. Our visitor services staff will familiarize school classes with the rules of the Kunsthaus.
  • Please supervise your children.
  • Please use a firm base when painting with crayons and pencils.
  • Please keep your distance from the artworks.
  • In the event of serious breaches of these rules, members of staff are authorized to instruct the person concerned to leave the building, with no entitlement to reimbursement of the entrance fee.
  • CCTV is in operation at the Kunsthaus. The recordings are used for security purposes only and are automatically deleted after 60 days.

Barrier-free access

Barrier-free in the museum

The Kunsthaus Zürich offers step-free access. All levels of the exhibition and collection galleries can be reached via a wheelchair-accessible lift. We are working constantly to remove barriers and further optimize our service.

Guidance and signage for visitors

The museum is large and contains numerous rooms. Signs are in place to aid orientation. The premises are generally brightly lit with strong contrasts. Lift operating panels have tactile markings but are not labelled in Braille. The various floors are not announced. A museum plan is available at the museum. Our cash desk staff and attendants will be happy to assist you.
The new interactive visitor guide offers the best orientation without any download.

Mobile seating

Folding seats may be borrowed free of charge. Please contact our cash desk staff or attendants.

Wheelchairs

Assistance dogs may be taken into the collection and exhibition galleries.

Toilets

Barrier-free and wheelchair-accessible facilities are situated at the Moser building on the first basement floor and at the Chipperfield building on the basement and first floor.

Printed texts on exhibits and exhibition areas are available.

Local public transport

The ‘Kunsthaus’ stop is served by trams 3, 5, 9 and the no. 31 bus. You can reach the Kunsthaus from Zurich main station without having to change using tram no. 3 and bus no. 31. The names of stops are announced in the buses and trams. Detailed information on barrier-free travel can be obtained from ZVV .

Parking for the disabled

Hohe Promenade car park, Rämistrasse 22A: Parking spaces for the disabled can be found at the Rämistrasse pedestrian exit (follow the blue signs). Details
